Hermann Mascher
Pharm-analyt Labor, Austria
Prof. Hermann Mascher is a chemist by profession. He worked in the bioanalytical field for more than 40 years. This means developing methods for small molecules like drugs, metabolites or endogenous substances in blood, plasma, urine or tissues. The molecular weight range was about 80 – 5000 Dalton. More than 100 by-product publications published in peer-reviewed papers resulted in an overall impact factor of about 250. For 15 years he has also been involved in biomarker search for LSD or other Rare Diseases – always small molecule biomarker. He found free lyso-Gb1, free lyso-Gb3, SM509, free lyso-Sulfatide and BM1 for sepsis.
