Patsy L Robertson

Patsy is a musculoskeletal radiologist who has been following Gaucher disease patients in Australia using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) for over 25 years while working at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. She is currently the Australian reference person for the interpretation of MRIs in adults with Gaucher disease. She has a medical degree from the Otago University in New Zealand and became a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists in 1986. She is associate professor in the Radiology Department of the University of Melbourne having previously worked at the Alfred Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne after training at Napier Hospital and Waikato Hospital in New Zealand.

Patsy has authored several collaborative research papers on quantifying bone marrow response to enzyme replacement therapy in adult patients with Type 1 Gaucher disease. The current Gaucher research project is ‘Fat Fraction Monitoring of Marrow Infiltration on Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Gaucher Disease (GD) Patients.’ She also has in interest in the imaging findings in mucopolysaccharide patients.
